How this matchup plays

Pushing down a lane against an Omniknight team often comes down to who has their ultimate ready. Lycan wants to create a huge tempo swing with Shapeshift, running at heroes and forcing objectives with his summons. A single button press from Omniknight for Guardian Angel can make that entire physical damage assault worthless, buying his team crucial time to reposition and counter-attack. Since both heroes depend on these long-cooldown abilities to define a fight, the matchup becomes a waiting game. During the downtime, Lycan can try to out-farm and split-push, but Omniknight’s team can also group up and punish him if his own ultimate is unavailable. The game is often decided by which team better manages these windows.
