How this matchup plays

Catching Muerta out of position often means a won fight and a free objective. The entire matchup hinges on a single moment: can Magnus land Reverse Polarity before she can react with Pierce the Veil? If he does, she's locked down and easily burst by his team. If Muerta gets her ultimate off, however, she turns ethereal and becomes immune to the physical damage from an Empowered core. This can leave Magnus's team with their main damage source nullified, allowing her to survive the stun and start firing back with her own high magic damage.

This tension defines the game once Magnus gets his Blink Dagger. Before that, they mostly ignore each other. Afterwards, Muerta has to play with extreme caution, respecting Magnus's ability to initiate from anywhere. Her team needs to provide vision so she isn't surprised by a Skewer or Blink-RP combo. Fights come down to whether Magnus can force an engagement while her ultimate is down, or if Muerta can successfully bait his initiation and then clean up the fight. It's a standoff of cooldowns and reaction time where either hero can give their team the decisive edge.
