Magnus vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Making a big play with Reverse Polarity becomes a much greater risk when a Nyx Assassin is on the other team. The constant threat of Spiked Carapace means Magnus can be stunned the moment he lands his ultimate, buying time for Nyx's allies to scatter or turn the fight. Even a simple Skewer can backfire if Nyx is the target, turning a pickoff attempt into a liability. This interaction forces the Magnus player to be extremely careful about when and where they choose to initiate, as a reflexive button press from Nyx can spoil the whole plan.

Throughout the game, this makes it harder for Magnus's team to dictate the tempo. He's often forced to wait for his Black King Bar or for someone else to bait out the Carapace before he can confidently jump in. This hesitation gives Nyx's team more breathing room to farm and secure their own vision. A successful Magnus will need to find openings on heroes other than Nyx, or focus more on empowering his carry to win fights without relying on a perfect initiation.
