Magnus vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Dealing with a big Magnus initiation often comes down to having a simple, reliable stun, and Ogre Magi provides exactly that. A well-timed Fireblast can interrupt Skewer, saving a core from getting pulled out of position. It can also cancel a Blink-initiation before Reverse Polarity even comes out. Magnus wants to find that perfect moment to catch several heroes, but Ogre is often tanky enough to survive the initial burst and get his own spells off. This creates a standoff where Magnus has the more powerful ultimate, but Ogre has the reliable disruption to stop it from happening.

This forces Magnus to play more patiently throughout the game. He can't blink into the open and expect a clean ultimate if Ogre Magi is alive and nearby. The Magnus player has to either wait for Ogre to use his stun on someone else or catch him in the Reverse Polarity itself. For Ogre's team, the plan is to keep him positioned defensively to act as a bodyguard. Fights often hinge on who gets the jump; if Magnus finds a target away from Ogre's protection, his game plan works, but if Ogre anticipates the move, he can turn the fight.
