Magnus vs Phoenix

How this matchup plays

Catching multiple heroes in Reverse Polarity feels great until you see the Supernova egg appear in the middle of them. Phoenix can cast their ultimate even while stunned, completely disrupting Magnus's big play. Suddenly, your team has to choose between attacking the heroes you caught or frantically trying to break the egg before it stuns everyone. This hesitation is often all it takes for the RP targets to recover and turn the fight. On top of that, Phoenix's Fire Spirits can cripple the attack speed of anyone Magnus brings close, making follow-up damage much weaker.

Later in the game, this turns into a standoff. The entire fight revolves around whether Magnus can catch Phoenix without Supernova, or bait it out before committing Reverse Polarity. Phoenix plays to stay alive and use their ultimate reactively to save the day, forcing Magnus’s team to either build specifically to kill the egg or try to ignore it and risk a massive counter-stun. This pressure limits Magnus’s options and makes it very difficult for him to find the clean initiations he needs to win.
