How this matchup plays

Trying to land Reverse Polarity on Puck is a classic test of patience. Puck can often use Phase Shift to dodge the stun entirely, or at least avoid the immediate follow-up damage from Magnus's team. Skewer is similarly difficult to connect against such a mobile hero. This makes it hard for Magnus to execute his ideal initiation. On the other hand, Puck lacks the tools to bring down a durable Magnus, especially once he has a Black King Bar. Neither hero can consistently dictate the terms of engagement against the other, which often forces them to focus on different targets instead.

This stalemate usually leads to both heroes playing on opposite sides of the map. Magnus will focus on enabling his other cores with Empower and setting up fights that don't involve Puck, while Puck looks for pickoffs on more vulnerable targets. When they do meet in teamfights, the outcome often hinges on whether Magnus can catch Puck before Puck can escape or use Dream Coil to disrupt the initiation. It becomes a game of positioning and cooldowns, where a single misstep can be punished, but neither side can force a consistent advantage.
