Magnus vs Pudge

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a target with Dismember feels unreliable when a Magnus is nearby. Skewer is a perfect tool for pushing Pudge away to save a caught ally, completely breaking up his single-target gank potential. The threat works both ways, however. A well-positioned Pudge can ruin a Reverse Polarity initiation by hooking the primary target to safety or even pulling Magnus himself out of position before he can follow up. It becomes a duel of who can disable or displace the other first, with neither hero having a clear upper hand in the direct interaction.

This tension defines the mid-game. Magnus wants to Blink in for a multi-hero setup, but a hidden Pudge is one of the best counters to that plan. If Magnus gets his Reverse Polarity off cleanly, Pudge is often the first target to be focused down. But if Pudge can survive the initial burst or avoid it entirely, his Dismember provides more than enough lockdown to turn the fight back onto Magnus. The outcome of fights often hinges on which of these two initiators can successfully execute their plan while stopping the other's.
