Magnus vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Reverse Polarity isn't the death sentence for Slark that it is for other heroes. The key interaction is his Dark Pact, which can purge the stun if timed correctly. This allows him to escape what should be a guaranteed kill, often with Pounce, before the follow-up damage from Magnus's team arrives. It forces Magnus to play around this specific timing, either by hoping Slark is out of position without his spells or by baiting the Pact first, which isn't always possible.

This standoff defines how fights play out. The Slark player can afford to be more aggressive around the edges of a fight, knowing he has an escape from Magnus's biggest spell. Meanwhile, the Magnus is stuck with a tough choice: use Reverse Polarity on several other enemies, or hold it in the hopes of catching a lone Slark who might simply disengage. Since both heroes' success hinges so much on outplaying the other's core ability, neither one tends to consistently come out ahead.
