How this matchup plays

Picking these two against each other creates a standoff between initiators. Magnus wants to land a decisive Reverse Polarity to control the fight, but Sven is one of the harder carries to lock down and burst. With a well-timed Warcry and his eventual Black King Bar, Sven can often live through the stun and immediately turn the fight around. Magnus’s plan relies on his team following up instantly to kill the target inside his ultimate, but Sven’s entire kit is built to survive that exact scenario and punish the heroes who clumped up to kill him.

The game often becomes a high-stakes waiting game. Magnus and his team will play around vision, looking for the perfect moment to jump before Sven can react. Meanwhile, Sven focuses on farming his core items and will try to force fights on his own terms, ideally when Reverse Polarity is down or when he has status immunity ready. If Magnus catches Sven or his key supports without their defensive tools, the fight is won. If Sven anticipates the initiation, however, he can activate God's Strength and cleave through Magnus's entire team.
