Magnus vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Controlling the map to farm a Blink Dagger gets a lot harder when Magnus is playing against a Techies. Proximity Mines placed in the jungle and along common pathways severely slow down the farm he needs for his core items, forcing him to play reactively. This constant threat of mines restricts his movement and ability to build momentum. Trying to use Skewer to isolate a target can also backfire; a quick Blast Off! from Techies can silence Magnus and disrupt the follow-up, while Sticky Bombs make it hard for him to chase or retreat after the initial commitment.

Even once Magnus gets his Blink Dagger, Techies remains a significant obstacle. Blinking in for a Reverse Polarity is risky when a well-timed Blast Off! can silence Magnus on arrival, giving the enemy team crucial time to scatter. Magnus also has to be constantly aware of the map. A poorly aimed Skewer can easily drag an enemy—or himself—into a hidden minefield, turning a good play into a disaster. This adds a layer of difficulty to executing Magnus’s game plan, which is often enough to give Techies a small advantage.
