Magnus vs Undying

How this matchup plays

Catching heroes in a big Reverse Polarity often feels less impactful against Undying. He's naturally durable and his whole kit is designed to drag fights out, which is the opposite of what Magnus wants from his initiation. When Magnus groups enemies, Undying can land a huge Soul Rip or get maximum value from his Flesh Golem aura. If a Tombstone is already up, zombies will immediately swarm the clumped-up heroes. This turns a clean pick-off attempt into a messy brawl where Undying thrives, and the constant Decay drain softens everyone up beforehand.

This pressure starts in the lane, where Undying can make it miserable for a melee hero like Magnus to farm. Later, Magnus has to be more careful with his initiations, since a bad Skewer can leave him stranded and slowed by zombies. The main tool Magnus has to fight back is Empower. Giving a core hero cleave is a great way to clear out Tombstone zombies quickly, which helps mitigate a lot of Undying’s teamfight disruption. It's a slight edge for Undying because he complicates the simple "RP and kill" plan, but Magnus provides his team a direct answer.
