Marci vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Deciding to pick Marci into a Venomancer often comes down to a bet on who controls the engagement. Marci wants to isolate a target with Dispose and follow up with a quick kill during Unleash. The entirety of Venomancer's game plan works to prevent this. His slows from Poison Gale and the constant chip damage from Plague Wards make it very hard for Marci to stay on her target. If she can’t land her attacks, the lifesteal from Sidekick is useless. If she does manage to close the gap on Venomancer, however, he is fragile and lacks an escape.

This tension creates a fairly balanced fight across the game. Marci has to find a way to get past the wall of slows to do her job. A well-timed jump, especially with an item to block spells, can secure a kill before Venomancer’s poison can turn the tide. If that initial burst fails, Marci gets stuck in the open, slowed and melting to damage over time without being able to fight back. The fight usually goes to whichever hero can dictate the positioning and execute their own plan before the other can react.
