Mars vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Losing control of the map after a failed Arena of Blood is a huge setback, and Necrophos is an expert at causing them. Mars relies on his physical presence to win fights, but Necrophos counters this at a fundamental level. Heartstopper Aura constantly drains health regardless of armor or Bulwark's damage reduction, punishing Mars in any extended brawl. Once Mars commits his ultimate, Necrophos can activate Ghost Shroud to become immune to physical attacks, completely neutralizing Mars's damage output inside the ring. This turns Mars's biggest spell into a self-trap.

The game becomes a serious uphill battle for Mars. He is forced to avoid Necrophos and try to catch other, more vulnerable heroes, but Necrophos's team will often group around him for his sustain. Any fight Mars takes against a team with Necrophos is a risk, as a misplaced Arena can be instantly turned by a Ghost Shroud and a punishing Reaper's Scythe. Necrophos gets to be the center of attention and bait Mars into making a mistake, knowing his abilities render the enemy's main initiation plan useless.
