How this matchup plays

Trying to trap Puck in Arena of Blood feels like the right play, but it rarely works out for Mars. Puck can use Phase Shift to dodge the spear or the wall, and Illusory Orb provides an easy escape even if caught inside. This interaction devalues the biggest spell Mars has. Instead of isolating and bursting the key mobile target, Mars is forced to use his ultimate on someone else, leaving Puck free to control the fight with Dream Coil and silence. Mars wants to set up a kill in a fixed location, but Puck is defined by never staying in one place.

This dynamic gives Puck the initiative for most of the game. She can jump in aggressively, knowing Mars can't reliably lock her down. Mars is left waiting for Puck to misplay or for a teammate to provide a perfectly timed silence before he can commit his own spells. A patient Puck can often bait out the Arena cooldown before her team fully commits to a fight, leaving Mars without his main teamfight contribution. This pressure on Mars to perfectly execute his combo against an evasive hero gives Puck a steady, but not unbeatable, upper hand.
