Mars vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Getting hit by a Skywrath Mage as Mars is a helpless feeling. Mars is built to fight head-on, using Bulwark to block incoming attacks, but that passive offers no protection from a barrage of magic damage. Skywrath can kite from a distance, spamming spells that completely bypass Mars’s frontal defenses. The silence from Ancient Seal is especially punishing, as it can prevent Mars from using Spear of Mars or casting Arena of Blood, shutting down his initiation before it even begins.

This dynamic holds for the entire game. In lane, Skywrath Mage can bully and zone Mars with constant magical harassment. In teamfights, if Mars manages to trap enemies in his Arena, he becomes a stationary target for Mystic Flare from a safe distance outside the wall. Mars is forced into building early magic resistance or a Black King Bar, which delays his core items like Blink Dagger. Skywrath isn't pressured in the same way and can just focus on building more damage to continue exploiting the matchup.
