Mars vs Slardar

How this matchup plays

Trapping Slardar inside Arena of Blood seems like it should be a death sentence, but the fight rarely goes Mars's way. The core of the problem is Corrosive Haze, which melts all the armor Mars relies on to be a durable front-liner. Bulwark's damage reduction does little when your armor is gone and every physical attack hits that much harder. Slardar is more than happy to stand and trade, using Bash of the Deep to stun-lock Mars and prevent any escape. The hunter quickly becomes the hunted, even inside his own ultimate.

This dynamic gives Slardar control of the game's tempo. He can confidently hunt Mars for solo pickoffs, knowing he wins the direct fight. In larger teamfights, a single Haze on Mars is often enough for the whole team to focus him down before he can have a real impact. The Mars player has to adapt by playing much more cautiously, using Spear of Mars to catch targets from a distance and placing Arena defensively to protect his own team. He must avoid a head-on confrontation with Slardar at all costs.
