Mars vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Facing Sven inside an Arena of Blood is a disastrous experience. Mars's ultimate is designed to trap and control enemies, but for Sven, it creates an ideal kill box. Once he activates God's Strength, he can quickly tear through anyone pinned with him, and his Great Cleave spreads that immense damage to the whole team. Mars's own defenses with Bulwark are simply overwhelmed by the raw physical output. The very spell that defines Mars's teamfight contribution becomes a massive liability, turning his intended fortress into a slaughterhouse for his own allies.

This dynamic makes fights incredibly difficult for the Mars player as the game progresses. While he might have some lane presence, his mid-game impact plummets once Sven acquires key items like Black King Bar. Any attempt by Mars to initiate is immediately punished; Sven can activate his items, ignore the Spear of Mars stun, and go to work. This forces Mars into a reactive role, unable to make the proactive plays he relies on, often having to use his Arena defensively or not at all against a farmed Sven.
