Mars vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Fighting inside an Arena of Blood often favors the hero who can win a straight man-fight. Mars might trap a key target, but if Ursa is nearby, the plan can fall apart. Ursa can activate Enrage to survive the initial burst, and its status resistance shortens the Spear of Mars stun, letting him get to work faster. Once he's on a target, Overpower and Fury Swipes build up damage so quickly that even Mars's Bulwark isn't enough to save him. Instead of creating a kill zone, Arena of Blood often becomes a dueling pit that Ursa is well-equipped to dominate.

Early in the lane, Mars can often keep his distance and control the pace. The real trouble starts when Ursa gets the items he needs to jump in, turning the tables. Mars has to start playing around Ursa's positioning, trying to spear or trap his more vulnerable teammates instead. If Mars makes a mistake and catches an enraged Ursa, he's likely to die inside his own ultimate. The game becomes about Mars trying to use his control to set up a favorable teamfight, while Ursa constantly threatens to turn it into a simple brawl that he is built to win.
