How this matchup plays

Pushing out lanes to control the map feels like a calculated risk for Mirana. Pugna's Nether Ward makes using any spell a potential death sentence, punishing her primary escape, Leap, and her burst damage from Starstorm. Every cast drains her resources, making it hard to commit to a gank or even survive one. This pressure isn't one-sided, though. Mirana's Sacred Arrow provides the perfect long-range answer. Landing a stun from the fog of war can disable Pugna before he can place his Ward or use Decrepify, often leading to a quick kill and turning his main strength into a weakness.

Later in the game, this matchup becomes a contest of initiation and positioning. A successful Mirana will play from the edges of vision, looking for an opportunity to snipe Pugna before a major fight begins. Pugna, in response, wants to force engagements in tight corridors where his Ward is unavoidable, making it impossible for Mirana to use her full spell rotation safely. The outcome often depends on which hero gets the jump. A surprise Arrow on Pugna is a kill, but a well-placed Ward before Mirana can react forces her to play passively or risk taking massive damage.
