Mirana vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Burning through Templar Assassin's shield is the core of this matchup. Mirana's Starstorm is almost purpose-built to strip Refraction charges, often removing multiple layers with a single cast and leaving TA exposed. This denies Templar Assassin her primary tool for trading hits and surviving burst. Once the shield is gone, TA is extremely susceptible to magical damage and the long lockdown from a Sacred Arrow. It fundamentally undermines her ability to stand her ground in any fight where Mirana is present, forcing her into a defensive posture from the very start.

This dynamic dictates the pace of the game. Templar Assassin wants to hit her item timings and start deleting heroes with Meld, but Mirana's presence makes that incredibly risky. Early on, TA has a hard time farming safely. Later, Moonlight Shadow clouds the map, preventing TA from finding the solo pickoffs she relies on to snowball. Even when TA does initiate, a counter-gank from a hidden Mirana's Arrow can completely reverse the situation. TA is rarely allowed to play her own game, as Mirana's kit consistently works to dismantle her strategy at every stage.
