Muerta vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Activating Pierce the Veil against Spectre is a huge liability. Muerta's ultimate turns her into a magical damage cannon immune to physical attacks, which is normally her big power spike. Against Spectre, however, this high damage output is turned back on her by Dispersion. Every powerful shot Muerta fires gets partially reflected, and since she's a fragile agility carry herself, she often ends up bursting herself down faster than her target. This fundamental interaction makes it incredibly difficult for Muerta to fight Spectre directly.

This dynamic means Spectre can hunt Muerta with impunity once she has Haunt. Muerta lacks a reliable escape, making her a prime target for a solo pick-off with Desolate damage. In teamfights, she's caught in a bind: focus Spectre and die to reflected damage, or try to ignore her and get run down by Spectre and her illusions. Muerta’s only real hope is for her team to provide heavy lockdown on Spectre or to end the game very early, because in a direct late-game confrontation, Spectre almost always comes out on top.
