Muerta vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Activating Pierce the Veil allows Muerta to ignore the physical attacks from Venomancer's Plague Wards. This can be helpful when she's trying to stand her ground and right-click, as it removes one layer of his sustained damage. However, her ultimate does not protect her from magic damage, so Venomancer's Poison Gale and Poison Nova still apply their full effects. This core interaction is a trade-off: she gains immunity to his wards but remains completely exposed to his most dangerous spells, which prevents either hero from having a clear-cut advantage in a direct confrontation.

For the most part, this matchup is a damage race. Muerta wants to use her ultimate to quickly eliminate a target, but the slows from Venomancer can make it hard for her to stay on top of her victim. Meanwhile, Venomancer can apply all of his damage-over-time spells to Muerta and kite away, knowing she’s on a clock. If Muerta can secure a kill before the poison overwhelms her, she comes out ahead. If her target survives the initial burst, the lingering magic damage from Veno often finishes the job for his team.
