Necrophos vs Razor

How this matchup plays

Drafting Razor into a Necrophos often feels like you're setting yourself up for a hard game. Razor’s entire plan revolves around Static Link; he wants to drain your attack damage and then right-click you to death. Necrophos invalidates this strategy with Ghost Shroud, making himself completely immune to Razor's attacks. While ethereal, he can continue healing with Death Pulse and burning Razor down with his aura. Because Razor deals almost exclusively physical damage, he has no way to punish the increased magic damage Necrophos takes in this form. Eventually, all the passive damage adds up and a Reaper’s Scythe finishes the job.

This fundamental problem for Razor plays out at all stages. He can’t effectively pressure Necrophos in lane, and in mid-game teamfights, he struggles to kill a key target. Razor is forced to rely heavily on his teammates for lockdown and magic burst, or rush an item like Nullifier, just to interact with Necrophos at all. Meanwhile, Necrophos can build his standard items and play his game, knowing that one of the enemy’s primary damage dealers is a non-threat to him personally. Razor is left trying to play around the hero who so directly counters his kit.
