Necrophos vs Timbersaw

How this matchup plays

Laning against a Necrophos feels awful for Timbersaw. His entire defensive plan revolves around taking hits to build stacks of Reactive Armor, but Heartstopper Aura isn't a spell or an attack; it's a constant health drain that never triggers his passive. Timbersaw finds his health melting away without ever gaining the regeneration and armor he needs to sustain himself or trade effectively. If he tries to commit with Timber Chain, Necrophos can use Ghost Shroud to slow him down and become immune to physical damage, making an escape or a kill attempt very difficult. The constant poke from Death Pulse only adds to the pressure.

This dynamic gets worse as the game progresses. A core part of Timbersaw's identity is being an extremely durable front-liner who is nearly impossible to bring down through conventional damage. Necrophos invalidates this with a single button. Once Timbersaw’s health is worn down by the aura and other spells, Reaper’s Scythe executes him regardless of his armor or magic resistance. Timbersaw’s only real option is to get a surprise jump and burst Necrophos from full health with allies. In any extended engagement, Necrophos will grind him down and secure the kill.
