Necrophos vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Finishing off a farmed Spectre is difficult for most heroes, but Reaper's Scythe is designed to execute high-health targets who have been worn down. Heartstopper Aura constantly pressures Spectre in teamfights, putting her in kill range for that ultimate. On the other hand, a solo Spectre can have a very hard time bursting Necrophos. If she uses Haunt to jump on him, a well-timed Ghost Shroud will make him immune to her physical attacks, often letting him turn the gank around completely with his own damage and healing.

This creates a game of cat and mouse. Necrophos dictates the mid-game, wanting to group up and force fights where his team sustain gives him an edge. Spectre wants to avoid this, farming her core items and looking for pick-offs on weaker heroes. The matchup often comes down to who executes their plan better. A successful Haunt onto the right targets can win Spectre the fight before Necrophos has an impact, but if he survives the initial jump, landing a key Reaper's Scythe on Spectre can take her out of the game long enough for his team to win.
