Necrophos vs Winter Wyvern

How this matchup plays

Saving an ally with Cold Embrace seems like the right play, but it does almost nothing to stop Necrophos. His Death Pulse and Heartstopper Aura both deal magical damage, burning right through the physical immunity from her spell. The healing from Cold Embrace is often completely outpaced by his constant damage output, turning her best save into a minor delay. This fundamentally undermines Winter Wyvern's ability to protect her team from the thing that is actually killing them.

As the game develops, Necrophos can build momentum and become a raid boss who constantly pressures the entire enemy team. Winter Wyvern is forced into awkward positions, often having to use Winter's Curse defensively or on a secondary target, since Necrophos can negate the damage with Ghost Shroud if he gets caught. Even if she makes a good play, her efforts are undone by the nature of his kit. Reaper's Scythe simply cuts through any healing she can provide, securing kills that Winter Wyvern is trying her hardest to prevent.
