Shadow Fiend vs Terrorblade

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst down Terrorblade often feels like a trap. Shadow Fiend has all the right tools on paper, with heavy magic damage from Shadowraze and Requiem of Souls that can melt Terrorblade’s low health pool. The problem is that Terrorblade is built to survive exactly that kind of aggression. His naturally high armor makes Shadow Fiend's right-clicks much less threatening, while a well-timed Sunder can completely reverse the outcome of a gank, stealing back all the health he just lost. Reflection can also turn SF's own damage against him, making a direct confrontation a dangerous proposition.

The game therefore revolves around a duel of timings and cooldowns. Shadow Fiend wants to leverage his strong laning phase and mid-game burst to control the map and end the game before Terrorblade gets too farmed. A successful Blink Dagger and Requiem combo on Terrorblade can be decisive. In response, Terrorblade focuses on safely farming with illusions from Conjure Image, aiming to secure a Black King Bar. Once he has that item and Metamorphosis is active, he can often shrug off SF's magical onslaught and simply overpower him with sustained physical damage.
