Shadow Fiend vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Facing down Venomancer means dealing with constant damage that makes laning miserable. His slows and Plague Wards can make it tough for Shadow Fiend to farm the souls he needs to get strong. On the other hand, Shadow Fiend has all the tools to instantly clear those wards and Venomancer himself with a few well-placed Shadowrazes. The dynamic comes down to whether SF can land his burst damage before the slow-acting poison grinds him down. Neither hero has a clean way to shut the other out of the game.

This race continues through the mid-game. Shadow Fiend looks for openings to land a Requiem of Souls, but Venomancer's vision and slows can keep him at a safe distance or kite him until he's too weak to commit. Veno's goal is simply to apply Poison Nova early in a fight, forcing SF to either retreat or die to the ticking damage. Success for either hero often comes down to positioning and which team has better initiation. It's a fragile balance where one misstep lets the other take over, but neither starts with a clear upper hand.
