Shadow Fiend vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Dodging a full set of Shadowrazes is the core of this matchup. Void Spirit has all the tools he needs to do it, using Dissimilate to become untargetable or his ultimate to reposition instantly. A well-timed Resonant Pulse can also absorb enough damage to survive Shadow Fiend's initial burst. On the other hand, Shadow Fiend has some of the highest raw magical damage in the early game. If he can predict Void Spirit’s movements or catch him with a Eul's Scepter setup, he can still secure a kill. This creates a very skill-intensive lane where either hero can come out ahead based on execution.

As the game progresses, their objectives tend to diverge. Void Spirit often uses his mobility to pressure side lanes and create space, while Shadow Fiend usually prefers to farm up key items like a Black King Bar before joining major fights. Teamfights later on depend heavily on positioning. If Void Spirit gets a good jump on an unprotected Shadow Fiend, SF will likely die before he can react. But if Shadow Fiend anticipates the initiation and gets his BKB and Requiem of Souls off, he can easily turn the fight and obliterate the enemy team, including Void Spirit.
