Night Stalker vs Pugna

How this matchup plays

Hunting down Pugna is a primary objective for Night Stalker once the first night hits. Pugna is a fragile hero who relies on casting spells to survive and deal damage, but Night Stalker’s entire kit is designed to stop that. A well-timed Crippling Fear is often enough to secure a kill, as it prevents Pugna from using Decrepify for safety or channeling Life Drain to turn a fight. Even from a distance, Night Stalker can interrupt the channeling with a Void, making it very difficult for Pugna to have an impact.

This dynamic forces Pugna to play from behind his team for the entire game. He can't split-push or aggressively ward because Night Stalker can be anywhere on the map after dark. This limits Pugna's ability to pressure towers and control areas with Nether Ward. In larger fights, Pugna is always looking over his shoulder for Night Stalker, who will likely make him the first target. The burden is on Pugna’s teammates to peel and save him, while Night Stalker can often trade his own life favorably for a core spellcaster.
