Night Stalker vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Crippling Fear is a death sentence for Rubick. The AoE silence instantly removes his ability to use Telekinesis to create space or Spell Steal to turn a gank around. Without his spells, he's a slow, fragile hero left completely defenseless against Night Stalker's burst damage and high attack speed from Hunter in the Night. While Rubick loves to steal powerful abilities, Night Stalker is designed to kill his target so quickly that Rubick rarely gets the chance to cast anything at all, let alone steal one of the abilities that's killing him.

The game becomes a nightmare for Rubick the moment the first night falls. Night Stalker's primary objective is often to run past the enemy frontline and eliminate the backline casters, and Rubick is the easiest target. This forces Rubick into a completely defensive game, often needing to buy a Force Staff or Ghost Scepter much earlier than he'd like, delaying his core utility items. If Night Stalker can consistently find and kill Rubick at the start of a fight, the rest of Rubick's team is left without their key playmaker.
