How this matchup plays

Stealing spells from a Nyx Assassin can feel like a trap. While grabbing Impale is a great find, Nyx's kit is built to punish heroes who rely on their mana. Mana Burn is especially effective against a high-intelligence hero like Rubick, often draining enough resources to prevent him from using the spell he just took. A well-timed Spiked Carapace can also reflect Rubick's own Telekinesis or a stolen stun back at him, turning an attempted disable into a self-stun. It’s a constant mind game over who acts first.

This creates a dangerous cat-and-mouse dynamic throughout the game. Nyx Assassin excels at finding and neutralizing a lone Rubick, making him a non-factor before a fight even begins. To counter this, Rubick has to play cautiously, relying on good vision and staying behind his teammates for protection. The matchup really hinges on positioning. If Nyx can find an opening to get on top of Rubick, he's in a good spot. If Rubick can maintain his distance and wait for Nyx to commit, he can turn the fight with a key stolen spell.
