Outworld Destroyer vs Phantom Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to focus down Phantom Assassin often feels frustrating for an Outworld Destroyer. Her Blur provides passive evasion that causes many of your Arcane Orb attacks to miss, which can completely negate your damage output in a fight. This forces you to consider buying an accuracy item that doesn't fit your normal build. While Sanity's Eclipse bypasses evasion, it's an unreliable solution; a core item for Phantom Assassin is Black King Bar, which makes her immune to it. This leaves Outworld Destroyer without a consistent way to deal with her.

The matchup often hinges on who gets the jump and which key items are finished. A farmed Outworld Destroyer can still burst PA before she gets her BKB, especially with lockdown from his team. After that timing, however, Phantom Assassin can usually blink onto OD and kill him during her magic immunity. Outworld Destroyer is then forced to play from the far back lines, relying on items like a Ghost Scepter or Force Staff to survive her initial attack. If PA can close the gap, OD usually doesn't have the tools to get away on his own.
