Outworld Destroyer vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Trying to farm as Outworld Destroyer against a Sniper is often a painful experience. Sniper's incredible attack range allows him to harass constantly, chipping away at health from a distance where he can't retaliate. While Astral Imprisonment can be used to dodge an attack or secure a creep, it doesn't solve the fundamental problem of being outranged. Sniper can control the lane by simply attacking from a safe position, forcing Outworld Destroyer to play defensively and miss opportunities to apply pressure with his own powerful Arcane Orb attacks.

The game then becomes about closing that distance. Outworld Destroyer almost always needs a Blink Dagger to initiate on Sniper, but a smart Sniper will position far behind his team, making any jump a risky commitment. Items like a Hurricane Pike can further complicate things by pushing OD away mid-combo. Outworld Destroyer has more than enough damage to eliminate Sniper if he gets on top of him. The difficulty lies in getting that opportunity, and Sniper’s kit is naturally designed to deny it, giving him a small but consistent advantage.
