Outworld Destroyer vs Spectre

How this matchup plays

Drafting Outworld Destroyer into a potential Spectre game asks your team to win on a timer. His entire damage pattern, from Arcane Orb to the area burst of Sanity's Eclipse, is heavily blunted by Spectre's Dispersion. She takes far less damage from his spells, and a painful amount of that incoming magic and pure damage is reflected right back at him. While Outworld Destroyer is trying to deal with this, Spectre can use Haunt at any moment to get on top of him, and he has no native ability to get away from her.

The mid-game is Outworld Destroyer's only window to succeed. He has to secure a big lead and relentlessly pressure objectives before Spectre comes online. If he fails, the game becomes nearly impossible. Once Spectre has her key survivability items, she can withstand his full offensive output and simply run him down. Every major fight begins with Spectre choosing her target, and the squishy, immobile Outworld Destroyer is the obvious choice. He is forced to build defensively, but it rarely saves him from a hero who can close the gap from anywhere on the map.
