Outworld Destroyer vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Picking a mid laner against Zeus means finding a way to survive his constant spell harass. Outworld Destroyer can struggle with this. Zeus can chip away at OD’s health from a safe distance with Arc Lightning and his passive, forcing OD to ferry out a lot of regeneration. While Astral Imprisonment is a great tool for dodging a Lightning Bolt or setting up a gank, it has a longer cooldown than Zeus's primary spells. This means Zeus usually dictates the pace of the lane, controlling the runes and building an early advantage by simply being able to throw more spells.

Later on, Outworld Destroyer's goal is to get a Black King Bar and run directly at Zeus. If OD can get on top of him, Zeus is fragile and dies quickly. The issue is getting to that point. Zeus pressures the whole map with Thundergod's Wrath and contributes to every fight, even from afar. Outworld Destroyer has to close the distance and commit his ultimate, which can be difficult if Zeus positions well behind his team. The game often comes down to whether OD can reach his BKB timing before Zeus has already created too much pressure for his team to handle.
