Ogre Magi vs Timbersaw

How this matchup plays

Controlling the lane early makes it very difficult for Timbersaw to get the items and experience he needs to function. He relies on stacking Reactive Armor to trade and survive, but Ogre Magi deals almost entirely magical damage. The armor does nothing against Ignite spam, which constantly slows Timbersaw and wears him down from a safe distance. More importantly, Fireblast is a reliable, point-and-click stun. A single stun can interrupt a Timber Chain escape, and a Multicast stun will hold him in place long enough for a guaranteed kill. Timbersaw simply has no way to deal with this consistent magical harass and lockdown.

This dynamic usually forces Timbersaw out of his lane, delaying his key timings and leaving him unable to create space or frontline for his team. A successful Ogre Magi can leverage this early advantage into rotations and objective control, while his cores farm freely. Timbersaw’s best option is to call for early support rotations to try and salvage the lane. If he falls too far behind, he’s stuck trying to catch up in the jungle, where Ogre and his team can continue to hunt him down and starve him out of the game.
