Ogre Magi vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Trying to wear down an Ogre Magi with damage-over-time feels like it should work, but it often falls short. Ogre's natural tankiness and high health regeneration allow him to absorb much of the poison from Venomancer's spells and simply keep walking. This resilience means he can stay in a position to threaten a counter-attack. While Venomancer is busy applying slows and dots, Ogre is waiting for an opportunity to land a Fireblast. A lucky Multicast can be more than enough burst damage to eliminate the fragile Venomancer before his sustained damage becomes a real problem.

In the lane, this forces Venomancer to respect Ogre's kill potential, as he can't freely harass without risking getting stunned and killed. As the game progresses, Ogre Magi often acts as a difficult frontline for Veno's team to deal with. He can soak up a lot of the initial damage from a Poison Nova and then use Bloodlust to help his own core close the distance. Ogre's goal is to find and lock down Venomancer, while Veno needs to play from the backline and hope his team can peel the tanky support off him.
