Ogre Magi vs Void Spirit

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down Void Spirit often comes down to a test of reflexes. Ogre Magi has a reliable, instant stun in Fireblast, which is theoretically perfect for catching an elusive target. However, Void Spirit’s entire kit is built to sidestep that kind of threat. A well-timed Dissimilate can dodge the stun completely, and his ultimate gives him the mobility to create distance right after. While Ignite can be an annoyance for Void Spirit, the damage is often mitigated by Resonant Pulse's shield, and Ogre’s lack of mobility means he can’t really follow up on it alone.

The result is a stalemate that plays out across the entire game. In lane, Ogre can be a real bully, but he can’t kill a careful Void Spirit by himself. Later on, Ogre Magi is a great bodyguard against Void Spirit’s attempts to jump on a core, as he is tanky enough to survive the initial burst and turn the fight with a stun. But this depends entirely on Ogre holding his spell. If Void Spirit can bait out the Fireblast or wait for it to be used on someone else, he has a wide-open window to execute his combo and escape.
