How this matchup plays

Teamfights against an Omniknight often revolve around his Guardian Angel. Rubick is uniquely equipped to punish it, as Spell Steal can snatch that ultimate and turn a fight on its head. A stolen Guardian Angel means Rubick can make his own team physically immune right after Omniknight does, completely neutralizing the spell's impact or even using it to counter-initiate. Even stealing Heavenly Grace is valuable, giving Rubick's team access to a powerful strong dispel and status resistance buff that can save a core from a critical stun. The threat of either of these spells being turned against his team puts Omniknight in a difficult position.

This dynamic forces the Omniknight player to be extremely careful. Using Guardian Angel at the wrong time isn't just a waste; it can actively lose you the fight if a good Rubick is paying attention. Omniknight has to try and bait out Spell Steal with his less important abilities or wait for Rubick to be dead or disabled before committing his ultimate. Meanwhile, the Rubick player has a clear goal: stay safe and be ready. This tension gives Rubick an edge, as the burden is on Omniknight to outplay the potential theft of his most impactful spell.
