Omniknight vs Shadow Shaman

How this matchup plays

Using Guardian Angel to negate the physical damage from Mass Serpent Ward often turns Shadow Shaman’s biggest teamfight spell into a minor inconvenience. This core interaction defines the matchup, as one hero’s ultimate is a direct answer to the other’s. On a smaller scale, Omniknight can reliably save an ally from Hex using the strong dispel from Heavenly Grace. However, that same save does nothing against Shackles, leaving Shadow Shaman with a dependable way to lock down a key target that Omniknight cannot easily break.

The game often becomes a standoff. Shadow Shaman wants to use his disables to secure kills and take objectives, while Omniknight’s kit is built to sustain his team through those exact attempts. A successful gank depends on whether Omniknight is nearby with his dispel, and a major teamfight can be decided by which player is forced to commit their ultimate first.
