Pangolier vs Rubick

How this matchup plays

Starting a big Rolling Thunder against a Rubick is often much riskier than it looks. Pangolier is vulnerable during the channel time before he starts moving, giving Rubick a perfect window to interrupt with Telekinesis. If the roll does get off, Rubick is usually waiting to use Spell Steal. A stolen Rolling Thunder is one of the most impactful spells he can get, turning an enemy initiation into a devastating counter-play for his own team. Even outside of that ultimate interaction, a simple Telekinesis can halt Pangolier mid-Swashbuckle, locking down the elusive hero for a kill.

This creates a cat-and-mouse game across the map. The Pangolier is forced to play from the fog of war, trying to find an angle where Rubick can't react in time. A smart Rubick, however, will position defensively and hold his spells specifically for the moment Pangolier commits. The advantage is only slight because a skilled Pangolier can still find opportunities by baiting cooldowns or catching Rubick out of position first. It puts the pressure on the Rubick to be constantly aware and ready to punish the initiation.
