Pangolier vs Sniper

How this matchup plays

Controlling a lane against Sniper can be difficult for most heroes. His long attack range and Shrapnel allow him to farm safely and pressure objectives from a distance, forcing Pangolier to be the one to make a move. While Rolling Thunder is a great tool for closing the gap and locking Sniper down, it's a major cooldown commitment. If the gank fails—perhaps due to a well-timed Headshot knockback or support intervention—Pangolier is left exposed. Sniper can also use Assassinate to punish any attempt to disengage with low health.

As the game progresses, Pangolier’s job becomes finding and bursting Sniper before a teamfight starts. This often requires items like a Blink Dagger to get a clean initiation. In response, Sniper’s team will group around him, placing wards to spot the approach. The pressure is on Pangolier to execute a perfect gank with his ultimate, while Sniper can often contribute from a safer position. This dynamic gives Sniper a small but consistent edge, as he dictates the terms of engagement more often than not.
