Pangolier vs Tusk

How this matchup plays

Locking down a mobile hero seems straightforward, but Pangolier has specific answers for Tusk’s aggression. A well-placed Ice Shards can trap a Rolling Thunder, but Pangolier can often Swashbuckle to safety before getting caught. Similarly, the spell immunity from Rolling Thunder itself makes it very difficult for Tusk to land his Snowball or Walrus Punch combo at the start of a fight. Neither hero can reliably control the other; Tusk has the lockdown tools, but Pangolier has the escape and disruption to match, creating a stalemate.

The lane can go either way, depending on who gets the first good trade. Later on, Tusk relies on catching Pangolier with help from his team, as he can't burst him down alone before Pangolier either rolls or swashbuckles away. For his part, Pangolier creates so much chaos that it can be hard for Tusk to find a good opening for his own initiation. It ends up being a skill-based fight where success depends on which player can better predict and outmaneuver the other’s primary abilities.
