Pangolier vs Venomancer

How this matchup plays

Assuming Pangolier’s mobility lets him get away clean is a common mistake. While Swashbuckle creates distance, Venomancer's poisons from Venomous Gale and Poison Sting stick around and keep ticking away. Pangolier's Shield Crash reduces incoming damage, but it's much better against single bursts of damage than the slow, persistent drain that defines Venomancer's kit. The critical moment is often Rolling Thunder. Pangolier can use its spell immunity to engage through a Poison Nova or to block a key Gale, but it won't cleanse any poisons that are already on him. He can get on top of his target, but he's paying for it with his health bar the entire time.

This makes teamfights between them very volatile. Pangolier’s job is to find and disrupt backline heroes, and Venomancer is a prime target. A successful roll can lock him down and burst him before he can react. On the other hand, Venomancer’s goal is to blanket the area with Plague Wards and Poison Nova before Pangolier even starts rolling. This forces Pangolier to either commit to a fight while already low on health or back off entirely. The outcome really depends on which hero gets the jump on the other and executes their plan first.
