Pangolier vs Zeus

How this matchup plays

Trying to initiate a fight as Pangolier can feel difficult when Zeus is on the other team. Pangolier relies on his mobility from Swashbuckle and the damage reduction from Shield Crash to weave through fights, but Zeus's damage is mostly instant and doesn't care about positioning. Spells like Lightning Bolt and Arc Lightning consistently chip away at Pangolier's health, making it risky for him to commit. Even a well-timed Shield Crash can be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of magical burst Zeus outputs, and Thundergod's Wrath will always find its target no matter how fast Pangolier is moving.

Throughout the game, this creates a tense dynamic. Pangolier’s main goal becomes finding and assassinating Zeus before he can unload his spells. A successful Rolling Thunder initiation can lock Zeus down for an easy kill. However, Zeus typically positions far in the back and builds items that help him kite, making him a difficult target to reach. If Pangolier fails to burst him immediately, he’ll often find himself taking massive return damage from the entire enemy team, having been softened up by Zeus from a distance before he could even start his roll.
