Phantom Assassin vs Primal Beast

How this matchup plays

Trying to burst a Primal Beast is difficult for Phantom Assassin because his main damage ability, Trample, is spell-based and completely ignores Blur's evasion. This allows him to reliably trade damage when other physical cores would struggle to land a hit. Primal Beast’s high health and the bonus armor from Uproar also help him survive the initial jump from Phantom Strike, letting him turn and retaliate with his own spells. He doesn't need to connect with auto-attacks to be a threat, which creates a fundamental problem for her defensive plan.

Throughout the game, Primal Beast often looks to initiate directly on Phantom Assassin with Onslaught before locking her down with Pulverize. This is a huge problem for her even after she buys a Black King Bar, since the disable pierces spell immunity. Her best bet is to avoid him in fights, wait for him to use his ultimate on a different target, and then jump the back line. If she gets a significant item lead she can still overwhelm him, but his ability to control and damage her through her primary defensive tool gives him a consistent, if small, advantage.
