Phantom Assassin vs Skywrath Mage

How this matchup plays

Thinking Skywrath Mage can always burst down Phantom Assassin with spells is a common trap. His magical damage is high, but the real problem for him is her mobility. Phantom Assassin uses Phantom Strike to instantly close the distance from the edge of vision, leaving Skywrath with almost no time to react with a silence or root. While Blur’s evasion does nothing against his spells, it doesn't matter if he dies to a few physical attacks before he can cast them. His low armor and health pool mean he's extremely vulnerable once she's on top of him.

The game becomes a race against the clock. Skywrath Mage has a good window to dominate the early game, using his constant spell pressure to slow down Phantom Assassin's farm. His goal is to get ahead and buy a defensive item like a Force Staff or Ghost Scepter. PA, on the other hand, needs to survive that early aggression and get her core items, especially a Black King Bar. Once she has the tools to ignore his spells and jump on him, she can actively hunt Skywrath, forcing him to play from the back and limiting his impact.
