Protecting an ally from Phantom Assassin’s burst is much easier with Treant Protector on the case. Living Armor provides physical damage reduction that can take the edge off her crits, and Leech Seed slows her down if she tries to stay on a target. His Overgrowth is also a perfect tool for locking down a slippery hero. However, Phantom Assassin’s entire game is about finding ways to kill heroes despite their defenses. Blur’s evasion and active stealth make her difficult to pin down in the first place, and her standard item builds often include ways to deal with roots, magic damage, and defensive buffs.

The matchup becomes a race between Phantom Assassin’s farm and Treant Protector's team-wide control. Treant excels at slowing the game down, healing towers, and saving allies to prevent PA from getting the snowballing start she needs. If he can consistently set up kills on her with Overgrowth, his team can pull ahead.
