Phoenix vs Templar Assassin

How this matchup plays

Using Refraction for defense becomes impossible against Phoenix. Templar Assassin relies on blocking a few big hits to survive, but Fire Spirits applies a constant damage-over-time effect that burns through all the charges instantly. The same goes for Sun Ray, which melts her shield with its steady stream of damage ticks. This leaves her completely exposed to follow-up from Phoenix's team. Her core defensive mechanic is essentially disabled whenever Phoenix is nearby, making her a prime target in any engagement.

This dynamic ruins Templar Assassin's game plan from the start. In lane, she can't trade or farm aggressively because her Refraction is always down. Later on, her goal of jumping a backline hero and bursting them from Meld is easily countered. Phoenix can apply his spells to strip her shield and slow her attack speed, allowing the target to survive and turn the fight. If TA overcommits, Supernova is an easy punish that she often can't destroy on her own. She is forced into buying a very early BKB or avoiding fights entirely.
